Hi there!

Which expansion card is used? Do you have a link for us?

It's possible that the port is broken inside the Xbox, but most likely it's just the expansion card it self.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I would return it and get yourself the official Seagate one. This one: https://www.xbox.com/en-US/accessories/h...

If this one isn’t working as well, then we are sure it’s related to your Xbox.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue with your Xbox Series X and external storage. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem:

1. Check the USB Ports and Cables

  • Ensure the USB cable connecting your external hard drive to the Xbox is in good condition and securely plugged in.
  • Try using a different USB port on the Xbox. Sometimes, a specific port may have issues.
  • If possible, test the external hard drive and cable on another device (like a PC) to rule out hardware problems.

2. Power Cycle Your Xbox

  • Turn off your Xbox completely (hold the power button for 10 seconds to perform a full shutdown).
  • Unplug the power cable from the back of the Xbox and wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in, turn on the Xbox, and reconnect the external hard drive.

3. Format the External Hard Drive

  • If the external hard drive is not formatted correctly for the Xbox, it may not work. To format it:
    1. Go to Settings > System > Storage.
    2. Select the external hard drive and choose Format for Games & Apps.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Note: Formatting will erase all data on the drive, so back up any important files first.

4. Check the Expansion Card

  • Ensure the expansion card is properly inserted into the dedicated slot on the back of the Xbox Series X.
  • Remove the expansion card, gently clean the contacts (if necessary), and reinsert it firmly.
  • If the expansion card is still not recognized, try inserting it into another Xbox (if available) to test if the card itself is faulty.

5. Update Your Xbox

  • Make sure your Xbox Series X is running the latest system update:
    1. Go to Settings > System > Updates.
    2. Check for updates and install any available ones.
  • Sometimes, software updates fix compatibility issues with external storage.

6. Test with Another Storage Device

  • If you have access to another external hard drive or expansion card, test it with your Xbox to determine if the issue is with the storage device or the console itself.

7. Contact Xbox Support

  • If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue with your Xbox or the storage devices. Reach out to Xbox Support for further assistance. They can help diagnose the problem and guide you through additional troubleshooting or repair options.

Let me know if you need more help! Hopefully, one of these steps resolves the issue. 😊
