After replacing the right joycon the controller wonders and acts like the A button. When I then move the joycon analog stick it stops but doesn’t register the input. Is this a bad part or did I do something wrong the other one worked fine.

Well, first things first! Is the Switch and the joy-con controller up to date??
Did you also calibrated the analog stick??
If both are yes, then return the part and get yourself a new one. It’s possible that the one you have is faulty!
