Why Is My Ethernet Running But Not My Wi-Fi
I am running Mac OS Sequoia 15.2. I just upgraded my iMac with a 4TB Crucial SSD and I had to install a SATA cable from my mother board to that 4TB Crucial drive because there was no internal drive and, thus, no SATA cable run to that Internal drive location in my iMac. I followed the "iMac Intel 27" Retina 5K Display SATA Cable Replacement" Installation Guide so I had to take a lot of boards and components out to do this work and then I had to re-install all those components and boards. I am afraid I might have missed connecting a cable properly and my iMac is all sealed up at this time. I did a thorough check of most of the key components because attaching my screen with the adhesives and I wi-fi was working. Here is my problem.
My Ethernet is working on my iMac and I can fully connect to all external sites that I need to go to. However, because some Sequoia features like login with my Apple Watch requires wi-fi, I also usually run with Wi-fi on as well. However, I can't even see any of the four wi-fi networks I have in my home, let alone any of my neighbors' wi-fi networks like I can on my other mac computers. I have tried all the steps below and have not been able to get wi-fi to work.
- I have tried resetting my SMC and NVRAM/PRAM
- I have tried connecting though my iPhone's hotspot but wi-fi fails in that connection.
- I have verified all my wi-fi settings against my other working wi-fi active Mac computers and I do not see any problems. I have tried wi-fi configurations with DHCP, DHCP with Manual IP Address, and Static Wi-Fi definitions but nothing there will connect.
- I have tried all the suggestions I have found from various sources on changes to make in addition to the ones that I am using on my active wi-fi other computers, but no changes there allow a wi-fi connection to be made.
- I have rebooted my computers and wi-fi router multiple times to no avail on my iMac.
- I have checked for any outstanding but not yet installed Mac OS software updates or any wi-fi router updates, but none were to be found.
- I have totally uninstalled my virus scanning software (Avast Premium) and totally deleted my VPN definitions, again to no avail.
- I have trashed recommended Network Settings in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/. This included: com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist, NetworkInterfaces.plist, com.apple.airport.preferences.plist, com.apple.network.eapolclient. configuration.plist, and preferences.plist. I restarted my computer and still none of my home wireless networks showed up when I reactivated my wi-fi.
- Last I ran network diagnostics my holding down the Option Key and clicking on my Wifi icon. I did generate the Diagnostic Report, but I cannot read it. Help.
