{A1706 / EMC 3071}—Released in June 2017, this 13" Macbook Pro features Kaby Lake processors up to 3.5 GHz Core i7 with Turbo Boost up to 4.0 GHz.

MacBook no longer starts after replacing the battery

I bought the replacement pack and immediately realised that the glue remover was missing. But that's not the issue now.

After I removed the old battery and installed the new battery, I let the MacBook charge overnight.

This morning I realised that the MacBook would no longer start up.

When I disconnect the battery, the MacBook can start up, but as soon as I reconnect the battery, it won't start up.

Do you have any ideas what could help?

Update (01/23/25)

Is it possible that the new battery is deeply discharged?

I measured the voltage on the old, removed battery and on the new, installed battery, see the results for yourself.

UPDATE

Block Image

After I reinstalled the old battery, the MacBook behaves as desired. It boots up and the battery charges, as you can see in the picture.

The new battery must have a defect.

Is the battery icon displayed on the menu bar as It sounds like the battery is not being detected in the system, so the 1st thing to try would be to install coconutBattery and post what it reports so we can have a look at what is or isn't being detected, The 2nd would be to go over carefully the MacBook Pro 13" Touch Bar 2017 Battery Replacement guide to see if the connection was correct or if it has been damaged in any way. Let us know the results & then we can give a more correct diagnosis.

Maybe the battery is deeply discharged? Have a look at my update.

Yes it seems the battery is not pushing out any power, did the charging light go from orange to green when you initially charged it up? Connect up the old battery, does the unit boot up & run from battery power only? If so then we can rule out any circuit issues..... If you can return the battery for a replacement that might be a good idea....

It is definitely the new battery, installing the old battery solved the problem.

Hopefully iFixit will be accommodating enough to replace the new battery for me.

@johannmelnik I think they will replace it for you. Good luck!
