Hi @shawntech78278
If you have the oven model as selected it has a humidity sensor which can be used in the cooking process.
Go to p.15→p.19 in the user manual to see how the humidity sensor is used.
30 minutes does seem a bit excessive so perhaps it may be that the charcoal filter needs cleaning/replacing (GE p/n WB02X11550), the vent fan is not working efficiently (see p.30 in the manual), or it is a faulty humidity sensor GE p/n WB24X21307 (examples only to show part),
Here's an image of the oven cavity parts diagram showing where the sensor is located

Here's the mini manual that may also help.
Be safety aware when working inside microwave ovens. The HV capacitor can store >5000V DC for months, even if the power has been disconnected for this length of time. This amount of voltage can seriously injure you. The HV capacitor needs to be discharged correctly as soon as it can be accessed after the oven's cover has been removed and before commencing any further work in the oven.

I'm not using auto cooking, when the problem occurs the display continues to work but no buttons work including cancel or set clock. How could the humidity sensor be involved here?

The door drips water when opening cooking this particular brand of bacon. I'm also covering the bacon with paper towel and a lid, still occurs. We haven't had this problem cooking any other items.
