Released November 2020, the PS5 console features vastly upgraded visuals and an innovative new Dualsense controller. The space-age black-and-white color scheme is a noticeable departure from PlayStation designs of the past.

Hdmi connector replaced. No picture

hi,

have bought a used broken console where the hdmi port had been abused and was pressed in so the pins lost contact. i have replaced the hdmi port and capacitor but when replacing a diode got a little heat damaged on the upper plastic. how can i test that it still works? is there also a way to test that the hdmi cap is correctly soldered and has contact?

all pins on the port seem to have contact when tested, the tv senses that something is plugged in pvh the console starts with a solid white light but no picture comes. have tried starting it in safe mode. could this be because the diode is broken? or that the cap does not have sufficient contact?

that diode could be done for, this component is a SOD323 - C1 / A6 Tvs Diode it's mostly for circuit protection you can find a replacement here: https://www.mobilesentrix.com/hdmi-contr...

the 1pf cap you can test with diode mode on a multimeter if you get oL across the cap it's disconnected and if you get a voltage drop of 0 it's short-circuited any other reading/ changing readings is normal

I'd recommend reflowing the legs of the HDMI connector using a micro pencil iron and a generous amount of flux.

based on your symptoms there is a broken or shorted connection in the hdmi area check over via microscope inspection and redo your work as needed.

After some looking around on the hdmi circuit i probobly found the issue… just hoping thats it.. first time im trying this so i ges this is the learning curv. I got frustraded when the hdmi port wouldt come loose so beemd up the temp and sadly the fan asswell. Now i can se that theres some caps around hdmi encoder thats must have blown away and missing.. 😕 great. That small cap behind hdmi port was the hardest thing to get there. Just stock to the iron tring to solder it. Gues i will get anouter grab tool to hold the cap and ordering this with one last try 😬.

Did you have any luck with this repair? I have a similar situation.
