replace lcd zif/fpc connector

I need to replace a damaged ZIF/FPC connector for a Steam Deck. I cannot seem to find these anywhere. Is this a connector possibly used for another tablet/laptop?

Thank you for any help

Who manufactures this specific ZIF/FPC connector and where can it be purchased?

Thank you any help

ZIF connectors are fairly widespread, and it is possible to replace them - see the answer here and this YT tutorial. Though, it is not easy, a quick fix (if the pins are still working) might be insulating tape to keep the cable in place

I am capable of replacing the connector, this connector appears to be specific to the Steam deck. Many are similar...just not the same. Be it pin number, direction of lock and so on. The Surface unit does not look the same.

@tony28469 Could you post a photo of the cable that goes into this connector? Especially of any identifying mark/specification that may be printed on it. Maybe it is possible to find something compatible (even if it is not exactly the same)

@tony28469 Or, if you're sure you can resolder it if needed, could you disassemble the connector to check if there is any part number/identifier on it? Worst case it can be helpful to work out something compatible by checking measures

Hello,

There is only one logo/image on the clip that is GOL dead center and the #4 to the far right. This has lead to it being GOLD pins and nothing more. This connector has 26 pins on the front and 23 on the back and all sites that have connectors don’t list anything to match. I thank you for your help. I think this is a custom for Steam Decks.

Tony

@tony28469 So also the ribbon cable has different numbers of pins on front and back?
