Charging light comes on when plugged in but no battery installed.

As title says. 3DS charge light will come on even if no battery is installed. If I then install a battery the charging light stays on. Here is the weirdest part. If I then unplug the charger the charging light stays on if the battery is plugged in...

Okay, but does the 3DS turns on (when the battery is installed)?

If not, I would try a new battery first and see how that goes. If the same thing happens, then you might want to check the charger. Is it the original charger you are using?
