More explanation is needed. Define "dead".

Hi @balamuruga13689

Had you tried with another power adapter?

Assuming your laptop was working correctly (more or less - I assume there's a reason you replaced the hard drive), then it's likely that somewhere in the process of doing your repair that something got disconnected and/or failed to get reconnected.

So the first step is to eliminate what's changed; I'd unplug the new hard drive first and see if it works after that. If it does, swap in the original drive and verify that it operates correctly, or at least the same way it did with the original drive. Put the new drive back in and double-check that the system doesn't come up. If that's the case, then somehow you've got a bad drive and will need to get a replacement.

If taking out the new drive and plugging in the original doesn't make any difference then you're looking for a different problem. Retrace all of your steps and verify that anything you disconnected or removed has been put back together or reconnected correctly.

Go through those suggestions and let us know what you find, then we can figure out what to do next.

I have the same issue and have followed all the advice given. I attempted to replace the SSD and add RAM (both checked before in other devices) , but now when I power it on, only the power button lights up, and nothing else happens. I initially thought I might have damaged something on the motherboard, so I ordered a replacement. However, I encountered the same problem with the new motherboard—this time, the fan starts up, but there is still no display on the screen. New power adapters have been checked (small pin and usb-c), external screen either. When I remove ram it shows the codes (3 long, 2 short blinks). Model 14-dy0505sa

Per this site https://support.hp.com/nz-en/document/is...

This condition indicates a potential memory failure.

Test computer memory

Reseat the memory module

Replace the affected component

You may have incompatible RAM. Remove all the new RAM and try.

Bill, I think you're on the wrong track here. Leon said he only gets the blinks when he removes the RAM, which makes sense that the laptop is complaining that there is no RAM. My reading of it says that he doesn't get any blinks when the RAM is installed, which implies that the RAM is okay.

So the interpretation of the blinks helps us understand, but at this point isn't getting us any closer to an answer.
