No red light, black screen with constant global flickering?!

My model is the Samsung UE65TU7100K. Bought in 2020.

The red light does not power on, the screen is completely black (no faint images) and it flickers globally when powered on.

What could this problem be and how can it be fixed please??

I’ve tried different electrical sockets, different cables etc. so I’m guessing a power board/main board?

🙏

@karen33133 explain this "the screen is completely black (no faint images) and it flickers globally " a bit more. Your power LED does not come at all? The screen is black so what flickers? One you have the back cover off and checked for the backlight as @jayeff already suggested, take a couple of well -focused pictures of those boards and post those with your Question. That way we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question

Basically there is no red power light coming on. There is a global flicker from the top left to the top right sides of the screen and no faint images when a flashlight shone on it. I’m thinking it’s likely a power supply or capacitor issue, it’s just working out if that’s doable with DIY.

Also, no sound but that is mainly because I am unable to select anything to test it due to the black screen.

Will try to get images.

Hi @karen33133

Try the following and check if the screen backlights turn on and stay on without flickering. There will be no images on the screen when doing this test as the mainboard has been disconnected..

Turn off the TV if it is powered on, disconnect the power to the TV and then remove the back cover from the TV.

Disconnect the cable between the mainboard and the power board, at the power board end only.

Reconnect the power to the TV and check if the TV screen backlights turn on and stay on.

If they do then most likely it is a mainboard problem.

If the don't or if they flicker it is either a backlight problem or a power board problem.

Be safety aware when doing the above as there is exposed, lethal AC voltage on the power board. Disconnect the power from the TV before doing any further work in the back of the TV.

That’s very helpful. Thanks!

Is there a chance it could also be a capacitor problem?

@karen33133

Until the problem is isolated further to a particular area i.e. mainboard, power board etc it's too hard to say.

Personally I doubt that it is, but I've been wrong before ;-)
