Apple's sixth-generation smartwatch, with optional cellular connectivity, released September 18, 2020. Model A2376, 44 mm.

What are the 3 golden notches inside the watch?

What are the 3 golden notches inside the watch? 2 on the screen side. One from mine got removed, now my sensors are not working. I do not know if that is the reason though. As in my wrist does not get detected, thus the watch automatically locks itself.

Update (10/24/24)

thank you so much for replying instantly, i did not expect that.

https://imgur.com/a/TsCSPdC here is the link to what got removed. I already tried putting it back glueing with B7000 the black underside part of the gold notch.

For context, my watch got damaged by water - stuck in bootloop for weeks. A repair shop said it is a faulty board and they'll try fixing it in exchange for a big amount of money.

I then submerged the watch in 99% alcohol like 5 times until it turned on again. Everything is working fine perfect. and used it for 2 weeks.

However, I'm trying to remove the old adhesive to prepare reapplying adhesive, then the gold notch got removed. After that, the sensors do not work and my wrist is not detected

If you are talking about the SIP module the larger ones in the corners are manufacturing fixture point to hold the SIP during it’s construction and is also a chassis ground point. You really need to post a prober question with a clear picture of the damaged part.

The area you are pointing to is a small spring contact which offers the chassis ground between the display and the case mounted SIP module. While not the most sharp of images one can see it here. See how the area drops down hitting the metal plate on the Taptic Engine’s ribbon cable. Click on the image to zoom in on it.

My apologies regarding where to properly ask this question, as I am new here.

Given that, is there a need to solder the one that broke off? Or is glueing it sufficient? I am just unsure if I glued it incorrectly, hence it not working at the moment. I just aligned the 4 dots square part to its 4 dots looking equivalent as I was glueing it.

@tristannn - it needs to be conductive so you can’t glue it as glue is an insulator, hopefully you can clean off the glue and it’s not damaged. You will need to solder it but this is not an easy task and as half of the mount is now missing it will be harder to properly align it and have the needed strength. You may need to just replace the screen to recover the functionality.

This is the underside of the spring contact, i do not know/think the others are soldered in? Im guessing the others are also glued to the black part?

@tristannn - I posted a better image in your question so you can see the alignment. The upper 3 contacts is the mate points. The lower ones are not used and you mustn’t bridge to them either with your soldering.

okay thank you, I understand now. I will use solder paste and a soldering iron. Appreciate all the help! You are a lifesaver.
