What to do with my iPhone

Fortunately for most of us, Apple does a very good job of locking down all the internal connectors on a phone so that they pretty much never come loose no matter what kind of falls or impacts they receive. Sadly that's not good news for you, as it means you won't be able to fix your screen by opening up the phone and reconnecting a loose plug.

My two grandchildren were both given iPhone X phones, and given their youth I have quite literally lost count of how many screens I have replaced between the two of them. So trust me when I say that you will have to replace the screen. Even though the glass wasn't damaged, there are still delicate connections between the flex cable going to the motherboard and the glass the OLED circuits are printed on and it's all too easy for those connections to get damaged due to a drop.

The good news here is that iPhone X screens have gotten to the point where they are dirt cheap nowadays. The last one I bought from AliExpress was only $14 USD and that included free shipping. Here's the listing:

Be sure to select the X - OLED button and not the X - INCELL link; you don't want the LCD version, especially with the OLED one being so cheap.

Note that the screen I've linked to doesn't come with the green plastic frame that holds the earpiece speaker assembly, so you will either have to salvage the one from your existing screen or order them when you order the screen. They're dirt cheap; I got 10 of them for $1.20.

The other thing you'll need to do the job right is a sheet of precut adhesive to glue and seal the new screen onto the phone. Here's an example of that being sold here on iFixit, but again that's something you can get on AliExpress as well if you need to save money.
