Top screen very dark

Yesterday i was cleaning my dsi, i disassembled the lower half and then reassembled. Everything went perfectly. Today i was going to add an SD card but i noticed i didnt properly put the sd cover of the lower half. After i fixed it, i figured i should clean the buttons while im here so I carefully disassembled that parts to access the rubber pad and buttons.

However, assembling back again i now see a darker top screen. I tried the potentiometer in the back but that didnt do much. I disassembled and reassembled the Dsi 5 times with same results. The ribbons dont even look damaged. I dont know what to do because it was working fine yesterday and this morning.

I would like some assistance or advice. Thank you kindly

edit - i figure out the culprit. i swapped the bottom half with another bottom half (the half that houses the battery and potentiometers) and it fixes the problem... so now i need to see why it doesnt work..

Hi! Which components did you moved when changing the bottom half?? Could be the power board causing this too!

@dan0 Hello! i essentially removed the bumpers the sd card slot along with the ribbon. i notice the manufacture folded this ribbon terribly too. i did try to gently flatten it a bit and readded two small double-sided tape to hold the ribbon in place how it should be. i somehow fixed it. for some reason the top screen potentiometer was not doing anything. I noted with i open and close the ds, the brightness returned then went back to dark and inverted colors. So i closed the lid again and turned the potentiometer a bit then open the lid. That little ritual seemed to work. Strange...

Ahh alright. Then it must be the top screen which was having issues! Could also be the ribbon cable. Glad that you’ve solved it! If it returns, then you know where the fault is..
