Cannot boot, BIOS reset

Hi there,

When I try to boot it straight away powers off unless I hold power for like 30 seconds and then I get an invalid checksum bios error.

That is teh only time the screen ever lights up, outside of that it's constantly black.

@lewisfields seems to indicate that your computer is having issues with the BIOS settings. I'd try to remove as many of the peripherals as possible, including the memory. Then try to turn your computer on (i know it won't boot etc) but we need to see if you get an "official" error message. Try to boot from a bootable USB drive.

If you do, then plug one component after the next one back in. If you get to a point where you can at least access the BIOS, do a reset into the default mode.

If none of that works, you may need to reflash the BIOS IC. Not sure if you can find a BIOS you can use somewhere online. You may have to search for it :-)

Just in case you need to work on it some more, here is the HP Pavilion X2 Detachable Notebook PC service manual
