TV no longer responding to remote inputs

My TV no longer receives or responds to inputs from remotes - the standard remote and universal remotes all do not work to control the TV. I have an Apple TV box hooked up and can still use that remote to control content on the TV through the Apple TV box, but not anything that is a TV control like volume. Seems like maybe the IR or other sensor on the TV has stopped working but I don’t know how to verify.
