iPhone XS Charging Issue: Tried Everything, Still Not Working

Hello,

I have an iPhone XS. For the past few days, it hasn't been charging. I've connected it to different chargers and to my computer using a cable, but it still won't charge. iTunes recognizes it, although it sometimes disconnects. I was able to restore it to check if it was a software issue, but the problem persists. When I try charging it wirelessly, it shuts off immediately. This has also happened with some USB cables.

I’ve replaced the battery and the charging port, but the issue remains. I'm out of ideas and not sure if it’s even fixable.

Any suggestions?

Thank you very much.

Are you able to see how much power its drawing?

@hampter Thank you for your response!

I don’t know if monitoring the USB port’s power consumption with any software would work. If not, I have no way of checking it.

I have noticed that since this issue started, the battery drains very quickly. In fact, I had to buy another battery at half charge just to be able to restore the iPhone. I’ve also noticed that the iPhone gets hotter than usual on the back, near the camera, which is where I believe the processors are located.

@ggpedraza ok,do you have access to a thermal camera?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@hampter No, not really. As a regular user, I don’t have much equipment, in general. Beyond screwdrivers and such, not much else. Quit limited… :(

@ggpedraza there isnt much you can do without basic microsoldering equipment, I believe something in your motherboard that relates to power consumption is flawed. Do with that what you want.

Hello!

It sounds like you've done a lot of the easy repairs for this. You've changed the port and battery and used multiple different charging cables and still get the same result. Microsoldering is looking like the only option, although as a last ditch effort you could double-check the battery pins on the board itself so see if anything is shorting out.
