Noise cancelling suddenly not working on right side.

Hello all,

Today I was surprised when I turned on my headphones when I noticed that noise cancelling did not work on the right side.

Sound works fine and has no issues playing, they sound the same as they always did with noise cancelling turned off.

I already reset them, tried the calibration setting in the app but nothing worked.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Any troubleshooting steps?

Also, when I turn on noise cancelling the sound on the right is much louder than the left.

edit: after having switched around the mics, the effect is still the same.

Odd tactic, but try and see what happens when you move the side that isn't working around.

Do you get the noise cancelling but it's broken up? Then the wire might be damaged.

@maarten89910 since the sound works without any issues I would strictly focus on the mic's. Make sure that the mic hole is clean and that there is no obstruction. After that you may have to consider replacing the mic after checking the wiring to ensure there is not cracked wire or bad soldering on the board. Use the service manual on this site Sony WH-1000XM3 to work on it.
