Frigidaire FFTR18G2QS back cover exposed.
I'm leaning towards the idea that at this point, it's better to have this replaced instead...
For context, fridge was provided by previous owners of the unit and LL does not seem to have inspected the residence or stepped foot in the residence to do a thorough inspection before putting up the residence for rental (it was not habitable "as is").
This is a top freezer fridge, no ice maker or water dispenser included, we do not have this hooked up to a water line, just the power cable. Model has been discontinued and I've had problems getting replacement parts from third-party sellers.
Two nights ago, half of the seal to the fridge has come off the door and we discovered a bug crawling around the seal. The seal itself as a hole in it. Previous resident left the place in such a disarray and it had been some time since anyone had lived in the residence. Upon further inspection of the fridge, we noticed the cover/back panel that is used to cover all the wiring and components was not fully installed/screwed in. One of the screws was missing and any pests could have entered the unit prior to my moving in as the back panel was exposed.
Currently, top shelf of the fridge is experiencing leaks and we've got a temperature control issue despite putting the temp setting as normal. Eggs are being frozen when a carton of a dozen are placed lengthwise in the fridge despite not being shoved directly in the back. Any food placed in the back is freezing.
Any suggestions or ideas on what the issue at hand is would be greatly appreciated. My theory is that the exposure of the back panel could have brought in unwanted guests in the unit and the build up of dust and/or whatever grime has an impact on the wiring/cooling components.
