Powering Down when unplugged
Our 2020 13” MacBook Pro will power off immediately after charging cable is removed, even with 100% charge, and will not power back on using the power button.
Battery is newly replaced and showing "Normal" in system settings. I have tried resetting SMC and PRAM/VRAM. The only way to get it to power on after powering down from removing the power cord is to reset the SMC it seems.
Has anyone experienced this before and found a solution? Any help appreciated.

Hopefully I selected the correct version of your system this is the two port version vs the four port.

I have this issue before on 2 MacBooks (Air & Pro 2017 - 2012) They had the same issues when unconnected, lights out.... The issues I had were the power from the battery was not being relayed to the board some shorted components. it needed board level fixing by an experienced tech guy. This also strangely happened after installing a brand new battery on them... Now I always make sure the board is drained of all power by pressing the power for 30 seconds, and then a few times more just for good measure before I touch anything inside.
