iPod shows no signs of life at all

Alright, here's what i do. I plug the iPod into a USB or Firewire charger, and absolutely nothing happens. Battery's plugged in, but i dont know about any logic board/HDD damage. This is my first iPod that isn't a Nano, so if somebody could help me out, that would help a lot. LMK if you all want pictures or smth! It's a 60 gig thick if that helps.

@gamingx let us know if you have any idea about the history of this iPad. Time to open it up and to check a few things. The very first thing you want to do is to check the dock connector. Take a close look and check for any bend, broken or corroded pins. Next would be to replace the battery. Careful with that, the battery connector is the achilles heel on this model. It does have a tendency to break off the board. Do not use a pry tool to open it. I use a paperclip bend into an L-shope, then use that to gently unlock the battery connector. Now replace the battery. Try your iPod again. Even with a bad HDD would you still get a sign of life. One more things you do need to consider is a bad screen. you may not see if coming on. Pug it into your computer and see if that recognize a device has been plugged in.

After that, the issue could be the logic board. There are no schematics available for this model (just like other iPod's ). Check the board for any missing, charred or otherwise damaged components. If in doubt, take some pictures and post those with your Question. That way we can see what you see.

Use these guides iPod 5th Generation (Video) to work on your iPod.
