Ps2 freezing only on one game

I have a copy of simpsons hit and run which is in immaculate condition for its age however it seems to freeze mid game and has some strange noises coming from the console, it has gradually got worse to the point I can’t play it anymore. I have tried other games which work perfectly fine I’ve swapped the disk for another simpsons hit and run which does the exact same thing any ideas why it only seems to play up on this game?

Since every other game is working... It must be something on the disc.

Do you have a shop nearby where you can test your copy of Simpsons Hit and Run?

I think it's the only way to test it, to be like 100% sure it's not the game.

Otherwise it could be the laser... But this is unlikely.

Hopefully you get test it on another PS2...
