I have great tv that has always gone louder and quieter the entire time and it drives me crazy. I was thinking about trashing it but can't bring myself to do that without attempting to repair. Thanks everyone!

@breathebuilder if you have any Roku connected you want to turn off sound leveling and possibly check those settings. If you do not, then check your Vizio sound settings. Since you did not tell us what model Vizio you have, you will need to do some digging through the settings. See if your model supports sound levelling. If it does, turn that off and see what you get.
