So obscure question, the brown clip on my PS2 fat is broken. Is there any secure answer for this dilemma? I have tried hot glueing it in place as well as placing electrical tape over the connection. I don't have caption tape on hand (the orange looking tape for reference).

Hi, Kapton tape isn’t sticky enough to hold anything in place. Can you upload a pic of the damage.

I tried to the best of my ability to get the details correct.
Okay I think you mean the clip that goes through the motherboard to hold it in place. If so is the plastic hollow? I did a similar repair on PS5 the ground leg snapped. I removed the board then stuffed a short length of cocktail stick pushed into the the hole of the plastic then put super glue over it and pushed the top (broken off piece) onto the cocktail stick and waited for it to set, worked like a charm very strong. If it’s broken off clean next to the surface of the case, maybe try apoxy resin or something. It will probably be fine without it tbh. The only other thing is to look on eBay for a replacement panel.

is the clip you are referring to, that is the lockdown for either the laser ribbon or the control port ribbon. That lockdown actually provides some downward pressure so that the ribbon cable makes contact with the connector. Not sure where you are located but you can get replacements from places like this. The official Sony part number for the complete connector is 1-794-206-21 and it is a 36P FFC/FPC connector. There is always the option off finding a donor board to harvest the connector from that.
Of course, you can always try to shimmy the lockdown back into place, even if it just holds on one side. For as long as it gets some of the pressure, it'll work.

Yes, that is the part. And yes I know that website exists. I even bought a spare of the exact same website. I bought it because it might of solved my problem but no dice. And to help you out on the solving location, it's a controller and memory card slot that it's for the system. I found it while I searching the web for it.
@jdogfixesthings if you have the repalcement can you not reconnect the lockdown by inserting one side first then the other?
I can, but it loses suction on the left side to do nothing holding it in place. This lead me to trying hot glue and electrical tape like I mention. I'll try Daniels technique tomorrow and see how it turns out.
@jdogfixesthings sounds like you are actually having issues with the connector body itself. You may just need to replace the complete connector with a new (harvested) one to the motherboard.
