Which diode do I need for my tv?

Hi there,

After finding this post I took apart my 40PFL9705H Philips TV, with the same issue as described in the post. I was able to find a faulty diode, but I am unsure where to order a replacement and with what specifications.

I have marked the faulty diode with an X (middle bottom):

It's labeled as D203:

The sticker on the board:

I hope someone can help me, thanks!

Does it say anything on the diode ?

Also have you tested it off the board diodes can give different readings in circuit .

I have removed the diode and got a different reading this time, so the issue does not seem to be the diode. Any ideas how to troubleshoot further?

Sorry, I’m truly no expert. I’d just replace the board tbh. Hopefully someone decent at T.V repair steps in. You could look up the service manual for your model. It goes through everything in there in detail about fault finding. Also look up videos on T.V fault finding. If nobody does step in. Sorry not much help but good luck in your endeavour. I’m sure you’ll get there .

Thanks for the help, i feel way out of my depth here so I will see if I can find a replacement board.

Just because the measurements out of circuit were different, doesn't necessarily mean the diode isn't the issue. What measurements did you get?

If the diode is not in fact the issue, I would have a good look around for anything that looks damaged. Check to make sure any fuses are intact (should get electrical continuity across them, or a resistance close to 0 ohms)

I did find the service manual for this model. It's very lengthy, but there is a ton of good information in it for fault finding.

Diodes should only be measured off of the board for an accurate diode reading was my only point. However if it measured as a short on the board though that’s a good indicator the issue is close by. Yes measurements would be useful as you can’t compare two unknown readings and come to any conclusions.

@basementdax Oh absolutely. there just wasn't any mention of exactly what was measured. Definitely agree to measure out of circuit, much like capacitors (when measuring for capacitance, not for shorts).
