Repair information, service guides, and troubleshooting help for refrigerators manufactured by Frigidaire.

FPBSZTTRFD high temperature warning.

I'm reaching out for some assistance with a fridge I recently purchased for my garage. It's displaying a high-temperature warning, with the fridge section reading between 50-60 degrees and the freezer at 21 degrees. The temperatures aren't stabilizing. Additionally, there's a clicking sound when I open it, and I've noticed a light buzzing noise.

Hi @jli47101

Please confirm the model of the refrigerator as searching online (in case any parts are needed) gives no results for the number you posted?

The closest I found was FPBS2777--- or FPBS2778--- but there are 10 different models using either of these two numbers and not all parts used may be the same.

Have you checked if the evaporator fan (inside at the back of the the freezer compartment, behind a panel, access through the door at the front to remove the panel) is working OK and also not iced up at all?

The evap fan will operate as long as the compressor is operating and it will turn off when the compressor turns off or if a door (either door) is opened. It will start again when the doors are both shut. The compressor if it is operating will continue to operate if a door is opened however.

If there are door switches visible in the door jamb of both compartment you can simulate a door being closed by manually operating/ releasing the switch with the door open, to check if you can hear the fan turn on and off.

If the fan is not operating when the compressor is running and the doors are closed then it may be a faulty fan, faulty fan power supply (check the door switches?) or a faulty control board.

If the fan is iced up then there's a defrost problem with the refrigerator. This could be due to a faulty defrost heater, faulty defrost thermostat, faulty defrost timer (if separate and not on the control board), a blocked drain leading from under the evap unit to the evap pan under the compartments near the compressor or a faulty control board.

Update (08/22/24)

Hi @jli47101

Bit different to the number you posted in your question ;-)

You're in luck.

Here's the service data sheet for the model.

It describes how to run the diagnostic mode tests¹ which hopefully will tell you what's wrong. There's also a wiring diagram as well in case it is a wiring problem.

If you find the problem is a faulty part, here's the parts list. When you have located the wanted part in the list, you'll find that the manufacturer's part number is shown along with the part. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Reply back if you have any problems determining what's wrong.

¹ FF= refrigerator and FZ = freezer in the tests.
