Purple garbled loadup screen when turning on console

I picked up a few PlayStations and they all have the same issue; they all have a garbled load up screen. They're all relatively the same but sometimes you can sort of make out the logo. The sound also plays. They normally have the jumbled display for 15 or so seconds and then it goes to no display. I'm assuming some chip or caps need replaced but I cannot find a single person talking about this issue on here, so I'm not sure where to start. Could it possibly be my cord?

Nothing is in the disc drive btw.

It was actually a bad cable! New cable and all consoles worked.

Not a problem at all! I was still pretty new to PS work when I made this post. I think all of them ended up being easy fixes actually! I think it was mainly gummy open buttons and mem cards/controllers are not reading due to caked ports.

Where those consoles modded btw?

Anyway, this is common. So far I know the CPU is failing and need to be replaced. But, the part is not for sale or very hard to find. Best thing to try is to re-cap everything and see if it works. Otherwise you do need a new motherboard. Sry!

I don't believe that they were modded, but I didn't really look too far into them though. Modchips are fairly obvious though aren't they?

CPU would make sense though. Honestly it just seems like it would be easier to sell them and try to get my money back for them.

I appreciate you getting back to me though! I'll try to put some work into one of the consoles and see how it goes.

Yes, the modchips are easy to spot! You do find the IC with a lot of wires soldered on the motherboard. If you remove the plate (where the laser is on) you can find them sitting there, but sometimes you need to remove the motherboard as some models have them attached to the back of the motherboard! My pleasure! It's easier to get a refund instead of fixing the CPU yes. It's difficult and the part is just not for sale (so far I know).
