Mac Mini internal speakers have no sound

Hi all, I received a Mac mini as a gift and the internal speakers do not output any sound or boot chime. The machine works fine and boots as per normal however no sound is output from the speakers. I have replaced the HDD however the speaker issue was before this. I’ve taken a speaker (assumed working) from a 2012 Mac mini and put it in the Mac mini 2014 and it doesn’t work either. I require assistance on troubleshooting or attempting to fix the speakers. I haven’t tested if the speaker is getting the right amount of power with a multimeter yet. However how much Voltage should it be getting?

Do external speakers/headphones output sound?

@hampter I'll test this when I get back to the computer.

I had the same issue. It is likely an issue with the speaker connecter on the logic board as I tried two different working speakers on my 2014 Mac mini.

So your saying its a bent pin?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

So whats the fix?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@fireaussie unfortunately if you dont have access to a microscope and fine tweezers there isnt a fix, just either use other speakers(assuming they work) or bring it to a shop.

@hampter No offence. I thought the whole point of this site is to ask others for assistance on fixing their own products not suggesting for them to bring it to a shop. But I’m going to have a look at the connector to see if it’s broken and test it with a multimeter to see if it’s pulling the right amount of voltages

@fireaussie well here is the thing im not telling you to bring it to a shop because im trying to prevent you from fixing your own things I was just saying that if you dont have ver specialized equipment that costs a thousand dollars than you cant fix it on your own and the shop that has these tools can unless of course you have micro soldering equipment and in that case by all means do it yourself.
