vizio m3d650sv no sound:

So I picked up this 75-in TV I seen it laying on someone's yard with a guy standing next to it so I stopped and talked to him he said he's throwing out this TV "all of a sudden sounds stopped working on it he said " ( come to find out this is the number one home theater system for that year) $4,500 And I didn't know any of that but the most common sense thing would be to just hook up a soundbar and that would take care of the audio solution at the least. So I came home and that's what I did but now I want to find out is it something simple to fix because it is the 2012 I believe home theater system is rated number one of that year so I would love to get this working and I believe I'm in the right place for that at the reading all kinds of comments and seems to be pretty knowledgeable people here so I would appreciate any help. Thank you

This TV came with 3D glasses because it was the number one home theater of 2012 so that makes me want to hear the sounds much more now lol and get some 3D glasses I mean I got it for the price was right But this TV is beautiful and I thought about just giving it to sound bar and selling it but I love this TV and want to make it work and see your work

@jimmyharri90430 if it is a vizio m3d650sv then it should be a 65" and not a 75" TV. Make sure we have the right model.

@jimmyharri90430 thus far we do not know if there was any attempt at any repair being made. We also do not know if you verified the audio settings etc. Start off with something like this:

There is no sound.

• Press Volume Up on the remote control.

• Press the MUTE button on the remote to ensure mute is off.

• Check the audio settings. See adjusting the audio Settings on page 26 Ensure the speakers are set to On.

• Ensure no headphones are connected to the TV.

• Check the audio connections of external devices(Blu-ray player, game console, cable/satellite box) that are connected to the TV.

Next, you would want to go ahead and see if a audio reset makes a difference

Resetting the Audio Settings

To reset the audio settings to the factory default settings:

1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is displayed.

2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the Audio icon and press OK. The Audio Settings menu is displayed.

3. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight Reset Audio Mode and press OK. The TV displays, “Are you sure you want to RESET Audio Settings to the factory defaults?”

4. Highlight Yes and press OK.

5. Press the EXIT button on the remote

If that does not yield any results, go one step further and try to restore the TV to factory default settings

Restoring the TV to Factory Default Settings

All of the on-screen menu settings can be reset to the factory defaults.

If you restore the TV to the factory default settings, all changes you have made to the settings will be lost!

To restore the TV to its factory default settings:

1. Press the MENU button on the remote. The on-screen menu is displayed.

2. Use the Arrow buttons on the remote to highlight the Help icon and press OK. The Help menu is displayed.

3. Highlight Clear Memory (Factory Default) and press OK.

4. Enter your parental control passcode. If you have not yet set up a parental passcode, enter the default, 0000.

The TV displays, “Are you sure you would like to Restore Defaults? This will erase any custom settings.”

5. Highlight Yes and press OK. The TV displays “Memory is being cleared. The TV will reset shortly.”

6. Wait for the TV to turn off. The TV will turn back on shortly afterward and the Setup App will begin.

From what I read in your question is that your M3D650SV does have sound through a soundboard, but not through the speakers of the TV. The audio amplifier circuitry is entirely on the main board. It's a Vizio, so no schematics are available for this. In that case, I really would suggest you remove the back cover. Here is how you do that. Then visually check your mainboard. Check for loose wires, disconnected cable/connector etc. Post some really well focused and large images of your main board with your Question. That will allow us to see what you see. Hopefully we can identify any issues.
