Samsung S7 edge wont charge because moisture keeps on being detected

i tried charging my Samsung S7 edge and it wouldn't charge because my phone was saying 'moisture detected, unplug charger and wait until the USB port and charger are dry'. i waited more than 24 hours and it still wouldn't charge. i didn't expose my phone to any water but i am in Bangladesh for the holidays and the climate is very humid. my phone still wouldn't charge even when turned off and i can't even change my settings to disable the moisture detecting setting as my charge is at 0%. i don't think my phone is wet and i cannot feel or see any moisture. i am on holiday with my family and no one else has this problem with their phone. How do i fix this problem?

Usually, cleaning the charge port out with some isopropyl alcohol and letting it air-dry will fix this. Sometimes there is a bit of moisture stuck in lint inside the charge port, and the phone can detect it. You can also try cleaning the charger connector itself in case it has any moisture in it.

The isopropyl alcohol (the gusher the percentage the better, recommend is 99%) will remove any water that’s in there, just make sure it’s dry before you try charging again.

Be careful when you’re cleaning the charge port. The Micro-USB port is very delicate and you don’t want to damage any pins while cleaning. A toothpick could work, and you could try some compressed air/electronics cleaner if you’re not comfortable sticking something into the charge port.

If this all fails, you could attempt to replace the charge port itself. This would involve knowledge of soldering g though, since I think the charge board is attached to the screen on the S7 Edge.

Hope this helps. 😊

right now i put my phone in a ziplock bag with sillica gel packets (i only have 2 though) and i will see if that works because its nearly been 24 hours but if it hasn't i will try cleaning the charging port with isopropyl alcohol. thank you for the suggestion☺

i dont have isopropyl alcohol so can i use handsanitizer instead?

I wouldn’t recommend hand sanitizer. They often have additives that can remain behind when the alcohol evaporates. Alcohol or some sort of electronics-safe air compressor/cleaner would work best.

thanks for helping me out! luckily i don't need to clean my charging port with alcohol because my phone is charging now after leaving them in the silica gel for 24 hours but i really appreciate your help!
