How far can you bend a battery flex cable?

Hey all, i'm adding a new battery to an old iPod but the lead is too short so i've installed the battery upside down and bent the flex cable to fit.

The cable is too short to use the other way around

Is this safe or a fire hazard? I figured as long as I don't keep opening it the metal won't fatigue and it'll be fine?
