A1708/EMC 3164 — Released June 2017, this entry-level MacBook Pro retains its traditional function keys (as opposed to the OLED Touch Bar).

Broken Escape Key on MacBook Pro

When I was cleaning the keyboard, I carelessly removed the esc key and the local service center said that it could not be repaired. Perhaps there are some solutions? (Macbook Pro 13” 2017 without touchbar) (A1708)

The keycap itself and the white plastic hinge can easily be replaced, but the larger issue is the clear plastic component that broke off of the top case—that component looks like it could be broken, and as far as I know it's pretty difficult to directly repair that kind of damage, which is why a lot of repair places will take a look at that and say you need to replace the keyboard. I'd recommend contacting a few more repair places to see what they say, though. Good luck!
