Did I accidently damage the connecter cable

So while opening my controller i noticed the pins on the end of the connecter cable are slightly shorter and now when i plug them back in the controller wont turn on

is it due to the connector cable or some other issue?

It does look like the 2 pins on the cable curled up and thus the cable is damaged… I would replace the cable first and see if this solve the issue (it should).
