Is fingerprint sensor "tied" with the original logic board?

Have the logic board replaced on my laptop, but found the finger print feature won't work, it simply returns failed to have fingerprint enrolled...", is it because it is tied with the original logic board, and the new board has a different serial number? Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, all Touch ID sensors are paired to the motherboard on all Apple devices. Replacing either will disable the fingerprint reading functionality.
