APS-C mirrorless digital camera announced in February 2014. The Alpha 6000 can take pictures up to 24.3MP, and video at 1080p60. Also known as the Sony α6000.

How to unstuck the shutter curtain?

Constant black screen and error: "Camera Error. Turn power off then on."

After power cycling and turning on and off, I noticed upon inspection that the shutter curtain is closed and never opening when the camera is turned on. So I want to know, how to open the camera, unstuck the shutter curtain and perform maintenance so it can last another tens of thousands of pictures.

@luishenriq98684 that's a tall order :-) you may need to take a look at the shutter unit itself. I've attached the SM for LVL 2 and 3 to the document tab on here Level 2 will show the proper disassembly etc for your camera.

I plan on following the disassembly to reach the shutter unit, when I get there, what kind of maintenance should I perform? Lubricant? Replacement of the spring? I want to prepare before opening the camera :-)

@luishenriq98684 lubricants might be a good idea. Just get some sewing machine lubricant and apply gently with a cotton tip applicator. You want to be gentle with that and not overdo it

@luismizuno how did the lubrication turn out? I'm having the same camera error and I'm wondering if it's worth lubricating some of the moving parts or if I bite the bullet and order a new Mb Charge Unit / Shutter Unit

@exotic_craze It didn't work properly, it got stuck again, but I'm no professional so I can't guarantee I did a proper job.

@luismizuno Thanks for the reply :) I just finished up replacing my shutter unit (MB charge unit was fine) and it's working perfectly again!

My error was a bit different to yours. I could film video just fine but whenever I took a picture the camera would freeze and display that error. Whereas it sounds like your shutter is permanently stuck closed. From what I've seen online it seems as though either of these two units can cause these errors, so it's somewhat luck of the draw as to which one to replace.

I did however put 5V across the MB charge unit which caused the shutter to actuate as it should. This seemed to rule out that unit as the cause so I replaced the shutter unit instead. But your mileage may vary... Hope this helps!
