The Lenovo Yoga 920-13IKB is a two-in-one laptop that functions as both a laptop and tablet by flipping the screen around.

Is there enough space for a SSD heatsink in a Yoga 920?

My Yoga 920 suffers of too much heat. I just have to replace the battery for the third time, all time after 2 years use and the reason is because it's bulging the case. The two chambers near to the motherboard.

ASIC temperature of SSD is reported to be high (Sensor 3 in HWINFO), all the time above 80 °C. So I want to reduce the temperaure with
1) an external cooling (under construction) and
2) a heat sink on the SSD. Do you think that such sink will fit?

Version M08 EVO 0.8mm is my choice, currently.
Or would an even a two-sided heat sink fit?

For to keep it slim I plan to use the heat sink's retainer tabs and bond it to the SSD with Nylon cord via the soldering side.

BTW: I'm German, so answers in German are also appreciated.

I am just wondering if your SSD is being accessed too much by background applications, etc.?

As a first step try Open Settings > Apps >Startup and toggle off any unnecessary apps.

The apps that stay resident after start refer Avast and some other apps that are often used. Nevertheless, thank you for your answer!

Its a bad idea from LENOVO to build a laptop that is not capable for a full load!

I had a similar situation with my Dell Insprion. When I replaced the M2 NVME drive, it reported overheating, but the location for this M2 drive was too tight for adding an aluminum heatsink. So I just attached the silicon thermal pad only, the temp down.

I also applied the same method to the M2 drive mounted on my MacBook Air 2017.

Good luck.

The temperature drop (photos) is amazing that was achived with the silicon thermal pad, only. Thank you for your answer!
