What type of cpu socket does the intel iMac have?

hi, i have an intel imac 17"

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: iMac

Model Identifier: iMac5,1

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo

Processor Speed: 2 GHz

Number Of Processors: 1

Total Number Of Cores: 2

L2 Cache: 4 MB

Memory: 2 GB

Bus Speed: 667 MHz

Boot ROM Version: IM51.0090.B03

i was wondering what type cpu socket it has and is there a limit to how fast the clock speed of new cpu can be? also does the bus speed or cache or anything have to be the same? thanks

Your machine:http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/im...

has the T7200 processor with an "M" socket: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_M

Replace with any of these: T5200, T5300, T5450, T5470, T5500, T5600, T7200, T7400, T7600[

Here's my post with links on upgrading the CPU: change MacBook Pro cpu from core duo to core 2 duo...

The 2.16 GHz is a T7400, M socket. You can probably take it to a 2.4 GHz T7600, M socket.
