M586x-H1 black screen with sound

I was in the middle of gaming when the top left side of my screen started turning black, and 'burnt' all the way down to the bottom right corner in about 1 or 2 seconds. The backlight is still on, and I can hear sound. The flashlight method didn't show an image on the screen. I tried all the hdmi ports, and multiple soft and hard resets.

I am thinking the power board, but wanted to hear other's thoughts before I purchased one. I haven't been able to find anyone saying it burnt out the way mine did while in use. Hopefully an easy fix!

@emphillips not a common power board error. that would definitely be last on my list. First would be the T-con board, then the main board and lastly the panel. It might help us to identify the circuits on the T-con board a bit better with the help of a straight, well lit and well focused image. Remember, we have to Zoom in quite a bit and that makes the image really fuzzy :-) If you have access to a multimeter, we can have you check the most common voltages on the T-con board so we can try and rule it out/in. Also, we would need to know if you have checked teh voltage to the panel and verify that you can see the backlight being on.

See, I didn't see any other posts saying anything about the 'burn' so I'm glad I asked before I bought! It took up half my living room so I had to put it back together, but I'll retake the photos with a better phone and more light this weekend. And I do have a multimeter. How would you like me to verify the backlight? I can take a photo with the tv on and off in the dark? I already did the flashlight method, but can double check that again if you'd like. I have not checked the voltage to the panel either.

Thank you in advance for your help!

@emphillips you have mentioned in your Question that "The backlight is still on" and I was wondering how you did check it or if you could see the lights being on. Now, if you tried the "flashlight check" and you did not make out anything, it is most likely not your backlights. Vizio is known to have bad backlight strips, that is why I am always thinking of those first.

@oldturkey03 I can still see the backlight on, and tried the "flashlight check" again today and confirmed I do not see anything. I have attached photos showing you can see a backlight when the TV is on and off.

I added better photos of the boards (with a better camera) to my initial question. Do you think you could help me with identifying on the T-Con board which voltages to check?

Let me know if these photos don't work and I can try one more camera.

@emphillips perfect! Let's see what I can find on the board for you to check. You are absolutely right about the backlight. Good job.

@oldturkey03 I ordered and replaced all the boards just and it didn't fix the issue. I see in another thread (pls help : vizio tv no picture only sound) that you answered it is most likely the panel? Which isn't fixable? :'( Can you walk me through checking the voltage for the panel?
