Series X Shuts Down If I’m On The Dashboard

My series X will shut off if I stay on the dashboard too long, as soon as I open a game it can stay on for hours. Once it shuts off it won’t turn on for a while, putting a fan behind it with the back cover off is the only thing that can keep it on, it seems something is overheating but I’m not sure what. I have replaced the thermal paste and cleaned it well but the problem still persists.
