Such a modification does exist, and also doesn't seem to require soldering! But you will need to buy a custom board, thankfully it's rather cheap (costing about $10) and it is purchasable from these links:

However, I noticed that there appears to be different versions (specifically different shapes) of the board that might apply to different PS4 controllers, which you would have to find out by disassembling your controller and seeing the code on the micro-usb board, and then purchasing the usb-c board that matches up to that code, but that shouldn't be too difficult!
