Released in 2019, the Asus ZenBook Pro Duo UX581GV is a unique laptop with a main 15-inch OLED touchscreen along with a secondary touchscreen just above the keyboard.

Do I need to replace my screen?

My laptop developed this bright area across the entire screen.

Not sure if I need to replace the video card or the screen?

Have the same issue since Friday - did you manage to resolve it?

Note it is only on the main screen, I have 3 other UHD screens attached with no issue.

Thanks,

W.

Hello. I also have the same issue. I don't know if I should buy a replacement screen from Amazon and install it. I'm afraid the quality won't be the same as the original, what do you think ?

@tanyarey it does not look like a video issue but more like a display issue. One thing to try is to attach an external monitor. If that displays the same line, it's your GPU circuitry (video circuit is built into the motherboard, it does not have a separate video card). If the external monitor does not show that line, it is your display that needs to be replaced.

Is this common because I have the same issue. I turned it on one day and it was just there.

@tmeverything heat and "high miles" are the most common causes for this. It is really not the screen itself but the components and solder on the driver boards. LCD screens are actually quite complex and sensitive.

Can GPU circuitry be fixed or is the laptop busted @oldturkey03 ?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@shanicecoleman it'll depend on the motherboard and which component has failed. Sometimes it's just a small SMD component that needs to be replaced and other times it is the GPU itself which might be difficult to replace.
