Figured out the issue shortly after posting. So I'm leaving this up in case someone else has this problem. I was at a point I thought I'd need to replace the drive. But I took the top cover of the drive off and decided to try and remove the magnetic top spindle. Peeled back the labels and pressed out the circular lid out the top of the cover. Once I did that I noticed the 3 piece top spindle was separated causing the magnet to be off balance. It was very simple to realign the tabs with the magnet back in the center. After that I closed it all up and tried it out. Drive sounds like brand new.
I spent hours trying to find how to videos with this same problem without luck. So I'm hoping by leaving this up. Someone else will be helped by it.
