Why is the water dispenser growling at me?

After changing the water filter the water began to run slowly and then became a trickle with a loud growling noise.

Hi @albertclark,

What is the model number of the refrigerator?

Have you tried reinserting the filter again?

I would recommend reinstalling the filter, just in case it is a minor situation of a bad install. Another possibility is the water filter is defective, and you may need to return it to the vendor you purchased it from.

Additionally, some models use a chip to allow some water filters to work with the refrigerator. This is a practice known as DRM, and would potentially cause the issues you're experiencing. I would recommend providing your exact model number so we can rule this out, and provide further guidance.

I have called a repair man. I replaced the water filter and it worked as expected for a couple hours and then began growling and vibrating again. Based on similar experiences it seems like it’s a bad water filter housing.
