Hi @waynes20067,

What is the full model number of the laptop as shown on the product info label on the bottom of the laptop?

Asking because in the HP 17-by0000 series there is no separately removable RTC (cmos) coin cell battery. The RTC (cmos) battery voltage is being supplied by a +3.3V DC feed from the main battery in the laptop.

If the laptop is not starting etc and if you wish to try a power reset to reset the BIOS back to its factory default state, to see if that fixes it, try disconnecting the main battery from the motherboard (you don't have to remove the battery, just disconnect it) and then press and hold the laptop's Power button for 30 seconds and then release it. Reconnect the battery and check if it starts OK

The full model number is 17-bs051od. I finally got the back panel off and there is a CMOS battery, which I replaced, although it was still reading right at 3 volts.

Thank you for your response.
