A2179 battery not charging after replacement
Replaced my A2179 macbook air battery as well as usb-c connectors. battery works, so I was able to get computer running again. However, it won't charge. Thought usb-c connector was not put in properly, BUT when attaching phone to computer through usb-c it will charge the phone - so it will work charging accessories, but not itself.
Tried reboot tricks, SMC reset, etc..because I have been trying to figure this out for so long I no longer have enough battery to reload macos, which I heard might be part of problem.
Any other ideas? Could it still just be the usbc connector isn't working fully?

If you put the old battery back in does it charge?

At the very beginning my initial instinct was that it was just the usb-c connection. It is a friend's daughter computer and noticed some external damage on that corner. So initially I only ordered a new usb-c connector and replaced it and nothing happened. Tried different cords, power bricks, etc.. so I assumed, at that point it was definitely the battery or the display (my a1709 display cable had to be replaced at one point)
To answer your question - I haven't put the old battery back in to see, but given I tried the old battery with the new usb-c board/connector I don't know if that would be it - i'm willing to try if that is your initial instinct?
The part I can't find online really is how/why the usb-c is allowing phones, airpods to charge from the macbook's battery. The flow of power going only out is odd to me.
Another note: even with the new usb-c connector, only one port works with regard to flow out.
