Why wont my New Screen Work After Replacement.

I had a Friend bring me a Phone that the screen was busted along with the digitizer. We couldn't get the phone to even power off. So i took the screen off and put the new one on. but now the new screen lights up but has no picture. only a backlit screen. I'm not an expert with Apple products but i have worked on them in the past. I've never seen this happen the box the screen came in was slightly damaged could it be possibly faulty. no cracks or breaks in the screen can be detected it looks normal is it still possible that it could have broken in transit? i literally seen a guy accidentally cut the flex cable and the phone still be okay after replacement so if you guys have any idea what might be happening i could really use some input. the battery was disconnected before removing the screen completely.

The 12 Pro Max has an OLED screen so there's no backlight. Not sure exactly what a white screen means in this case.

Is the original screen even partially functional? Can you confirm a picture appears with it reinstalled?

But yes, it is entirely possible for the screen to be non- or partially functional even with no visible damage; happens all the time, actually. If you get any kind of picture with the broken screen, then chances are the new screen isn't working and you'll need to contact the seller for a replacement.

Otherwise carefully check the connectors going to the display for any bent or broken pins; use a magnifying glass and a bright light for best results. Clean both sides with 90% or higher concentration isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, reassemble and test.

Let us know what you find and we can go from there.

Alright thank you for the clarification the screen has no picture at all but you can see a bit of light when trying to power on not exactly a white light but you can tell its getting power to the screen ill do exactly what you said and see if that fixes it. i sent a request for a new screen i figured it was broken just wanted a second opinion. in case something else happened.

the original screen had picture but doesn't now but when i was prying to get the screen off it bent upward a bit and lost picture so i assume the original screen is also broken too but it lights up with a very faint light with it connected and powered on same as the new screen

It also can be a blown fuse because you didn't disconnected the battery first before putting a new screen in.

I would tend to discount this as the cause due to the fact that this is an OLED display and thus doesn't have a backlight, which was typically where the problem came in on older LCD phones when the battery was left connected while plugging and unplugging the display.

@Jerry Wheeler, that is correct. But maybe he used a cheap LCD screen instead a OLED screen. Or is that impossible?
