there may be several reasons. One of them is the video port disconnecting from the motherboard, which sometimes happens. However, it is most likely that one of the two backlight circuits (located in the screen, just under the metal support) stopped working due to flooding. You will probably need to replace the screen. Fortunately, if you do it yourself, the price will not be high. A screen in the US can cost anywhere from $12-25. Check it in your loco.
