Verify your adapter is good either by using it on another computer or measuring the voltage on the plug. Did you try it with the adapter plugged in? If so, try it again after removing the battery. If it still does not show any activity, then you have a problem with the computer that will involve disassembly. It may be as simple as a broken power connector, or as serious as a bad motherboard.

Start with a hard reset: remove the battery and charger, hold the power button for 20–30 seconds, then reconnect only the charger and try turning it on. Check the charger LED—if it turns off when plugged into the laptop, there may be a short on the motherboard. Test with a different charger if available. Remove and reseat RAM modules and try booting with one stick at a time. Also inspect for loose components or dust. If there are no lights or sounds at all, the motherboard or power jack may need repair.

If the laptop shows no lights or sound, the issue may be with the motherboard or power jack.

The desktop shell (explorer.exe) is not loading—that only happens after successful authentication. Assuming the auth is successful.
1. Start Explorer manually
• Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc → Task Manager.
• Go to File → Run new task.
• Type explorer.exe → press Enter.
• If your desktop appears, the shell itself is fine — it just isn’t auto‑starting
Press Win+R****, type ``regedit***``, and navigate to:
Look for the value named *Shell***.
Make sure it is set to: *explorer.exe***
If it’s missing or has another program listed, change it back to ``****explorer.exe``.
If it doesn't open, the file may be corrupt.
Open a CMD or Powershell prompt as admin, run CHKDSK C: /f
the open it again and run SFC /scannow
both of these may take a long time. If SFC can't fix some files, run
DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
You must have inet connection for that. It may also take a long time if it has to dnld files.
