I poked around but sorry to say I wasn't able to find any definitive answer for you; there just doesn't seem to be much information out there regarding 6a repairs.
My best guess is that you might have to take the rear cover off to get to the parts you need to access. One guy has a YouTube video where he does a pretty good job of tearing down the 6a, but unfortunately doesn't go as far as removing the volume/power buttons and cables. However, it does demonstrate how to remove the rear cover so that's something to consider as to whether that will help or not.
