Any problems with the temperature sensor when replacing the HDD?

Hi,

I was reading a lot about upgrading the HDD but I am confused about the bit with the temperature sensor.

My understanding was that replacing the HDD with a new (larger) HDD will lead to the new HDDs fans running on full power because the temperature sensor cant be attached to the new drive.

Is there a way of avoiding that problem and install a larger HDD without having to deal with the temperature sensor issue?

Thanks.

You'll need to get your drive directly from Apple to avoid the temperature sensor issues.

I contacted an authorised Apple Service Provider and they said they could install a 2TB HDD for about 500 EUR.

Given that I paid around 1000 EUR for my iMac, I think that is insane!

The answer to my problem seems to be HDD Fan Control.
