The TI-84 Plus CE is a graphing calculator released in Spring 2015 by Texas Instruments. It includes a 2.8 inch color screen, USB port, apps, storage, and a 1200 mAh battery.

It brand new just got it. I plugged it in and screen turned on but says something and turns off.

Hi @martinez25098

Here's a link that explains what to try if there's a validating OS message on the screen.

If it still doesn't work after trying the solutions, as it is new, take it back and ask for a replacement or a refund.

This is a good answer. To add some context, there was a sudden surge of calculators with this issue in the past month or two. It's speculated there was some old stock with dead batteries that was found and shipped. Generally leaving the calculator charging overnight fixes the issue.
